Children and WorshipFirst Baptist provides childcare for preschool children during the worship hour. However, we encourage parents to bring their children to worship. All children (yes! even babies!) are always welcome in all our worship services. Through singing hymns, praying, participating in the children's sermons and listening to the pastor's sermons, children and grown-ups learn what faith is as a part of a complete church community.
Worship folders are available each Sunday for children to use during worship. the folders contain activities that help the children focus on age appropriate Bible learning during the worship hour.
Each Fall, worship training is provided through special programs. 4 and 5 year olds attend six weeks of worship training. 1st through 5th graders may participate in Roger's Worship Partners during four worship services. A special order of worship helps children understand and participate in worship.
In the Spring, children prepare and lead an entire worship service for the congregation.
When a family is dedicated during Sunday morning worship, the congregation promises to nurture their child's faith. Parents and the church family work together to nurture our children and to be nurtured by them in return. Children give us the gift of trust and a fresh point of view; adults share the gift of acceptance, experience and the wisdom of the church through the ages.
